Linking objects and diagrams

You can add a hyperlink to a shape that points to a website URL.

If your diagrams are public, you can add a link to the public URL of your diagrams, thus enabling you to link one diagram to another. For example, you can create separate diagrams for different parts of a workflow and add links to navigate between the diagrams (such as a Next button or a Back to Main Flow button). After you share your diagram to make it public, copy its URL and use it as the link from another diagram. For more information, see Sharing diagrams.

Linking is not available on multi-part shapes, such as swimlanes, certain UML shapes, tables, etc.
  1. In your diagram, select the object.

To select an object, from the toolbar, click the pointer arrowhead icon and click the object. Or, click and drag around the entire object and release so that a blue bounding box appears . To select the entire diagram, from the Edit menu, click Select All (or press Ctrl+A on your keyboard).
  2. In the toolbar, click the Create Link link icon button.

  3. In the Insert Link window, paste or type the website's URL address.

  4. Click Insert.
After inserting the link, a link icon appears in the lower-right corner of the shape. This indicates that the shape is linked.

To remove the shape link icon, select the Hide Link Icon check box while you add the link.
  5. Click the shape to show the link destination, go to the link, edit the link, or unlink.
